What happened
Apple originally said in its iPhone 18 Pro launch press release that Texture and Grain controls for Photographic Styles would come to any iPhone supporting the latest Photographic Styles generation, a list that included iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone Air and iPhone 18 Pro models. Apple has since rewritten that release and its iOS 27 user guide to state the controls work only on iPhone 18 Pro models and on the Ultra Wide, Main and Center Stage cameras of the upcoming iPhone Duo. PCMag notes a Wayback Machine capture from 3:30 a.m.
Why it matters
Anyone who bought or owns an iPhone 16, iPhone 17 or iPhone Air and expected these editing tools through an iOS 27 update will not get them under Apple's current documentation. The base Photographic Styles feature for adjusting tone, color and warmth remains available across those devices.iPhone 16、iPhone 17、iPhone Airを所有し、iOS 27のアップデートでこの機能が使えるようになると期待していたユーザーは、現行のApple公式文書に基づく限りこの機能を利用できない。
What’s next
Apple has not explained the change or said whether compatibility plans could shift again in a future software update.Apple
