What happened
Some iPhone 18 Pro Max owners on AT&T's network reported losing cellular service, including the ability to dial 911, with MacRumors estimating thousands affected. AT&T texted customers urging an immediate update to iOS 27.0.1, and on Friday, October 2, 2026, Apple also issued a separate carrier-settings patch meant to prevent the problem going forward.AT&T回線を利用する一部のiPhone 18 Pro Maxユーザーが、911を含む通話ができなくなる携帯通信障害を報告し、MacRumorsによれば影響は数千人規模とされる。
Why it matters
An Apple representative told CNET the updates only guard against future occurrences and won't fix phones already experiencing the issue; those owners will get a free replacement phone by contacting Apple Support or AT&T. The issue appears limited to iPhone 18 Pro Max units on AT&T; T-Mobile and Verizon reported no similar issues, and the standard iPhone 18 Pro is not affected.
What’s next
Some users report the iOS 27.0.1 update and even the iOS 27.2 public beta have not resolved the problem, so it remains unclear if the software fixes work for everyone.
