The Washington Post reported Elon Musk spoke directly with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen in October about SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile, which has about 7.5 million customers across Boost Mobile and GenMobile. Musk had earlier approached AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon about buying network capacity, but all three rejected the requests. Gaining Boost's network access would let SpaceX combine Starlink's satellite signal with ground towers, covering phones outdoors via satellite and indoors via cell towers, something Starlink currently struggles with.
