Why it matters何が変わるのか
Hamilton's error-detection and recovery code famously kept Apollo 11's landing on track in 1969 despite a computer alarm, and her leadership helped define software engineering as its own field. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama in 2016 for this work.1969年のアポロ11号着陸時、コンピュータの警報が鳴る中でもハミルトン氏が開発したエラー検出・復旧機能が着陸継続を支えたことで知られる。彼女のリーダーシップはソフトウェア工学を独立した分野として確立する一助となり、2016年にはバラク・オバマ大統領から大統領自由勲章を授与された。
