Perplexity announced on October 15, 2026 that it is open-sourcing SPACE, the in-house sandbox platform that has powered all Computer agent sessions since July, releasing it under the Apache License 2.0 with a public repository and hosted documentation. Perplexity said SPACE handles millions of sandbox creations per day and, in the company's own comparison, was three to five times faster than its previous commercial sandbox provider.
